Coorg Overshines Munnar as the Top Tourist Spot!

By Shruthi

Kerala Tourism had a lot to smile about all these days. Well, not anymore! Karnataka Tourism has overshined their neighbour by alluring the tourists with their most romantic destination, Coorg or the Kodagu district.

According to latest data provided by the tourism department of Kerala and Karnataka, Coorg has attracted more tourists than Munnar has done. The previous year, Munnar was in the number one position which is now taken over by Coorg. From January to November 2013, there were 10,73, 961 tourists who visited Coorg; whereas only 3,53, 545 tourists made it to Munnar. What could be the reason behind this great difference? It should be noted that Munnar is ahead with infrastructure.

Kerala Tourism has taken pleasantly to the news and is working to better future tourism prospects. Munnar is a place with several unique attractions. No advertising can sell a product like quality can! Munnar has just what it takes for tourists to relax and want for more! Munnar is probably the most popular honeymoon destination in Kerala. There's romance in the air around here. As the stats have earlier proven a point, Coorg runs ahead as a choice for honeymoon couples as well. It could be said that it was mainly due to bad weather conditions in the monsoons, Munnar recieved 40 percent less tourists this time.

Indian Tourism Development Corporation has also placed Coorg as the top hill station in India after a recent survey. It is not for nothing that Coorg is enjoying one triumph after the other. Like Native Planet has said before, Coorg provides a true Joie-de-vivre experience.
