Metaverse At Bangalore Airport, Want to Experience It?

The first phase of the Bangalore Metaport platform, which allows users to experience Terminal 2 (T2) of Kempegowda International Airport in the metaverse, was officially launched on Tuesday by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL). The Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru is prepared to become the first airport in the entire world that supports the metaverse.

The "BLR Metaport" service, developed in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Polygon, will give users an immersive, three-dimensional (3D) virtual tour of the recently opened Terminal 2 at Bangalore Airport.

Anyone interested in this metaverse experience can visit www.Blrmetaport.Com and use their smart devices to virtually explore and tour the brand-new terminal.

BLR

The BLR Metaport is made to provide travellers with a better digital experience. According to the statement, a 3D interface would give passengers new ways to interact with the airport, including checking into flights, shopping, navigating terminals & social features like socializing with other passengers.

BIAL's Chief Strategy & Development Officer Satyaki Raghunath provided additional details, revealing that this is their first venture into the area of Web3 and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and that they are hoping to provide travellers with an engaging and unique experience.

According to the statement, the foundation of BLR Metaport is decentralization, or the transfer of power and decision-making from a centralised body to a distributed network. It uses polygon blockchain to give customers easy access to exchanging digital assets.

These digital assets may include BLR Metaport's digital artwork, certificates awarded for passing various industry-related training sessions, utility NFTs, & commemorative Non-Fungible Tokens. Future plans for BLR Metaport include enabling customers to shop from various brands remotely.

The first phase of T2 will allegedly cost $13,000 crore to build and feature a built-up size of about 2.5 lakh square metres. The terminal would expand by 4.41 lakh square metres in the second phase. The first phase of the new terminal is expected to be used by 25 million people annually. At Kempegowda International Airport, the newest terminal 2 was inaugurated on 11th November by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

What is Metaverse?

The Metaverse has recently been a popular topic of conversation. Imagine a virtual reality where a few billion people may communicate with one another, live, work, and buy from the comfort of their sofas in the real world.

In other words, the Metaverse can be understood as a spatial computing platform that provides virtual experiences as an alternative to the physical world, along with important civilizational elements like social relationships, currency, economy, trade, & property ownership, built on the backbone of blockchain technology. The collective virtual realms where our physical & digital worlds collide are simply referred to as the "Metaverse."
