Bengaluru Traffic Alert: Race Course Road Shut for 60 Days—Here’s How to Navigate

From today, October 5, Race Course Road is shut for 60 days. White-topping and utility works cover Maurya Junction to Hare Krishna Road. Bengaluru Traffic Police released diversion maps; expect pressure on Majestic and K.R. Market approaches during peaks.

Movement from Shivananda Junction towards Maurya Junction is barred. So is movement from Trilight Junction towards Maurya Junction. Police say the restrictions are directional, not a shutdown of every approach. The order applies for 60 days from October 5.

Bengaluru Traffic Diversion: Race Course Road Closed for 60 Days Starting October 2026 - Best Routes

Bengaluru traffic alert diversions and best detours

BMTC, private and heavy vehicles to K.R. Market via Sankey Road should continue to LRDE Junction. Turn right and proceed via Basaveshwara Junction. For Majestic, use Kumara Krupa Road to Shivananda Circle, then S.C. Road. Alternatively, take Shivananda Flyover and reach S.C. Road via Nehru Circle. From Old JDS Junction, turn left at Raceview and continue on Kumara Krupa Road to Shivananda.

Movement Use this route Why it helps
Sankey Road to K.R. Market Windsor Manor → LRDE → Basaveshwara Junction Skips blocked Maurya approach
Sankey Road to Majestic Kumara Krupa → Shivananda Circle → S.C. Road Reaches hub without Maurya loop
Trilight to Majestic Shivananda Flyover → Nehru Circle → S.C. Road Avoids Race Course bottleneck
Old JDS to Shivananda Left at Raceview → Kumara Krupa Road Bypasses Trilight restrictions

Bengaluru traffic alert: airport, Mysuru, Tumakuru routes

Airport runs from the central business district are smoother via Sankey Road and Windsor Manor. Continue through Mekhri Circle and Hebbal, then Ballari Road. For Mysuru, reach Sirsi Circle early and join Mysuru Road, or use NICE near PES. For Tumakuru, prefer Sankey Road, CNR Rao Junction and Goraguntepalya on Tumakuru Road. Avoid Freedom Park and Seshadri Road approaches during office peaks.

Bengaluru traffic alert: BMTC changes and peak-hour impact

BMTC will follow these police diversions on Sankey and Kumara Krupa corridors. Expect bunching at Windsor Manor and Basaveshwara Junction. Add 20 to 30 minutes for Majestic or K.R. Market during morning and evening peaks. Note: the police maps display October 5–20, while the written notice specifies 60 days. Watch Bengaluru Traffic Police updates through the day, and follow junction signage.
