Universal Town, what is it?
A place where men and women live harmoniously irrespective of country or religion; such a wonderful concept; who would not like this idea? It is a self-sustained township that allows people to explore and learn the importance of unity in diversity.
Architecture of Auroville
The architectural style of this place is also linked to the concept of "Unity", Auroville is designed in a circular fashion and it is divided into six zones with the Peace Area at the centre.

The other zones like Residential Zone, Industrial Zone, International Zone and Cultural Zone are situated around the Peace area. The outline of all these zones is the Green Belt that consists of organic farms and forest areas, etc.

Location
Auroville is located in Viluppuram in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry is the closest destination to Auroville. It is divided into various zones; every zone has a significant role to play in managing the township.
Peace Area
The Matrimandir, amphitheatre, gardens and a lake attract visitors in great number. Do not miss to visit the amphitheatre as the "Urn of Human Unity" symbol which contains the soil of 121 nations and 23 Indian states.

Residential Zone
With 2400 residents from all age groups, the residential zone is the largest in the town. This place embraces every human-being with open arms without any discrimination.
Industrial Zone
The aim of Auroville is to have eco-friendly industries.small scale and medium scale industries are set-up to support the township.
International Zone
International Zone is a place for foreigners who want to explore and contribute to Auroville.
Cultural Zone
As the name says, Cultural Zone is a hub for education, art and sports activities. It is a centre for a lot research and training activities
