Dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of the great leaders of the Indian Independence Movement and the first deputy prime minister of India, the Statue of Unity is a monument whose construction started in the year 2014 and is expected to be completed this year in the month of October.

Measuring a height of more than 590 feet, it will be the tallest statue in the world, thereby, leaving the Spring Temple Buddha behind, which currently holds this title. It is being constructed in the state of Gujarat on a small river island in the vicinity of the Sardar Sarovar Dam.

The total cost of the project is said to be more than US$430 million. As per recent reports, about 3000 workers are working day and night to complete its construction. Well, this statue is certainly going to be one architectural wonder in the modern times. Isn't it?

Upon completion, this bronze-clad statue will be surrounded by beautiful gardens, amusement parks and an artificial lake. It will be equipped with fast-moving elevators so that visitors can explore its beauty within minimum time.

The entire statue will be divided into three floors and these floors will be used to provide visitors with the panoramic views of the surrounding regions, exhibition halls, museums and memorial gardens. Several shops and food stalls will be also be opened at the base of the statue. So, don't you think the Statue of Unity is soon going to be another world-popular tourist centre in the country?

By Air: Vadodara is well connected to other major cities in India by air. Hence, you can take a direct flight to Vadodara Airport. From the airport, you can either hire a direct cab or use the public transport to Sardar Sarovar Dam. The distance between the dam site and the airport is 90 km.
