Legend Of The Temple
According to the legend, a rich merchant named Durlabhdas, an ardent devotee of Chatushrungi Mata, visited the shrine in a place called Vani, which is at a distance of 259 km from Pune, to seek the blessings of the goddess. As he grew older, his health deteriorated and he started facing health issues due to which travelling to Vani became quite impossible for him.

Durlabhdas prayed to the goddess for a solution. The goddess appeared in his dreams and asked him to unearth her idol on the hill-top to the north-west of Pune and offer his prayers there; where now stands this holy Chatushrungi Mata temple.
