Pathala Ganga, Shivagange

Pathala Ganga is a fresh water spring that flows between two monoliths at Shivgange, at a distance of about 60 km from Bangalore. The term Pathala Ganga stands for 'underground water of the river Ganga'. It has been named so because the water flowing from the spring is believed to be the water of the Ganges which is considered to be extremely sacred by Hindus.

The water level of this spring alters all through the day and according to a legend, the water flowing here is somehow connected to Anthargange situated in Kolar. The spring is considered to be just as sacred as the supposed source.
