The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and several other parts of Maharashtra, warning people about hot and humid weather in the coming days. This alert is in place for the next three days and applies to districts including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg. The alert means people should stay cautious and take steps to stay safe during this rise in heat.

This announcement comes as Maharashtra is also experiencing some unseasonal rainfall, which is unusual at this time of the year. These changing weather patterns are signs that summer is arriving early and more strongly this year.
Rising Temperatures in Maharashtra
The IMD has predicted that temperatures in Maharashtra could increase by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius until April 11. On Sunday, the Santacruz weather station in Mumbai recorded a minimum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 33.8 degrees Celsius. This rise in temperature shows that the state is getting hotter quickly and that more heat may follow in the coming days.
Heatwave Alerts in Other States
Not just Maharashtra, but other parts of India are also dealing with rising temperatures. The IMD has issued heatwave warnings and yellow alerts for Delhi and Madhya Pradesh too.
In Delhi, the temperature is expected to go as high as 41 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the city recorded a minimum temperature of 20.2 degrees. This sharp increase is a sign of the hot days ahead.
In Madhya Pradesh, the IMD has issued a yellow alert as the state experiences its first heatwave of the summer. Areas like Gwalior, Chambal, Sheopur, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Neemuch, and Mandsaur are likely to face extreme heat. The forecast was confirmed by Divya E. Surendran, who is in charge of weather forecasts at IMD's Madhya Pradesh unit.
Rajasthan Also Getting Hotter
Rajasthan is also likely to see temperatures rise by 3 to 4 degrees in the next week. In the southwestern parts of the state, temperatures could reach 44 to 45 degrees Celsius. In the eastern areas of Rajasthan, the temperature might stay between 42 and 44 degrees.
As many parts of India get ready to face hotter days, people are advised to drink plenty of water, avoid going out in the afternoon, and stay in shaded or cool places. The yellow alert does not mean immediate danger, but it does mean that people should be careful and stay informed about the weather.
