Mawsynram in Meghalaya is set to host the world's first rain museum. Known as the wettest place on Earth, Mawsynram receives nearly 12,000 mm of rainfall annually. The rain museum is a significant investment of INR 35 crore. It will feature interactive weather exhibits where visitors can learn about clouds and related physics, as well as climate change. Live rain simulation zones will allow people to experience Mawsynram's monsoon indoors. Additionally, Khasi cultural installations will showcase how rain has influenced local traditions.

Mawsynram holds the global title of 'Earth's Wettest Place'. The locals have adapted to this environment by using bamboo-and-palm "knups" as umbrellas and building soundproof thatched houses. They also construct living root bridges that endure for generations, making them ideal for the rainy climate.
