World’s Longest River Cruise Will Officially Get Flag Off PM Modi On 13 January

On January 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the longest river cruise in history, which will travel from the holy city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Dibrugarh, Assam via Bangladesh

On January 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil the longest river cruise in history, which will travel from the holy city of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh to Dibrugarh, Assam via Bangladesh.

According to sources, the cruise will transport passengers over 4,000 kilometers of 27 river systems, including the West Coast Canal, Brahmaputra, and Indian river systems Ganga-Bhagirathi-Hooghly. The journey will take about 50 days to complete.

Regarding this, PM Modi said that this cruise will be unique in the world and will highlight the expansion of cruise tourism in India while announcing other projects in West Bengal.

He also mentioned that the cruise's inaugural jour006Eey will begin on January 13 and that it would visit 50 popular tourist destinations, as well as several historic monuments, the iconic Varanasi Ganga Aarti, and protected areas including Kaziranga National Park and even the Sundarbans Delta. According to rumors, the ship will traverse 1,100 kilometers through Bangladesh.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, instructed senior officials during a meeting that all preparations for the prime minister's visit and the Varanasi launch ceremony should be finished.

On January 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially launch the "Ganga Vilas" cruise from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, to Dibrugarh, Assam, according to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's statement which he gave on Monday.

According to a state government spokesman, the Ganga Vilas cruise, which departed Kolkata on December 22 with 32 Swiss visitors aboard, will arrive in Varanasi on 6th January 2023.

Swiss visitors will travel to Varanasi and explore the city's spiritual and religious sites, according to Raj Singh, director of Ganga Vilas Cruises. They will also travel to Chunar.
The Swiss tourists will leave on the longest river trip on January 13 when their visit to Varanasi is over, the prime minister announced.

The first river ship built in India, the Ganga Vilas cruise is outfitted with contemporary amenities and safety gear, and it will undertake the longest cruise voyage from Varanasi to Bogibeel (Dibrugarh), Assam.

The trip will take 50 days and cover 4,000 kilometers beginning in Varanasi. It will go via Kolkata and Dhaka on its way to Bogibeel in the Dibrugarh district of the eastern Indian state of Assam. To get to Patna, where it will port on the eighth day, the journey will set off from Varanasi and make stops in Buxar, Ramnagar, & Ghazipur along the way.

The expansion of river and coastal shipping, including cruise operations, would continue to be one of their top goals, according to recent comments made by Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of Shipping and Waterways. Regarding this, the PM stated that the goal is to have world-class cruises operating on the approximately 100 national waterways that the Center has taken on the work of developing.
