The weather across the country has turned much colder, and the winter chill is becoming stronger day by day. Many states are experiencing cold wave conditions, leaving people shivering, especially in the early mornings. Dense fog has also started covering several regions, making visibility low and adding to the discomfort.

This harsh weather is particularly difficult for young children, who are struggling to attend school in freezing mornings. Because of this, students are eagerly waiting for their winter holidays. While most states have not yet officially started their winter break, a few have already announced holidays between December 11 and 14.
States Announcing School Holidays
Kerala has announced a holiday on December 11 due to the second phase of local body elections. In Jammu and Kashmir, schools have been closed because of severe cold and snowfall. Schools in the winter zone areas of the region will remain shut on December 11, 12, 13, and 14. Additionally, all schools up to Class 12 in these winter zones will stay closed for the entire month of December due to extreme weather.
In Jammu and Kashmir, pre-primary classes will remain shut from November 26, 2025, to February 28, 2026. For Classes 1 to 8, winter holidays will be from December 1, 2025, to February 28, 2026. For Classes 9 to 12, the break will last from December 11, 2025, to February 22, 2026.
Rain-affected districts in Kerala and Tamil Nadu will also observe school holidays on December 11, 12, 13, and 14 because of the difficult conditions.
Joy for Children, Relief for Parents and Teachers
These holiday announcements have made children very happy, as they can stay home and avoid the cold mornings. Parents and teachers, too, feel relieved, as the break reduces the stress of sending children to school in such harsh winter weather.
