When It Rains In India, Europe Is Under Extreme Heatwaves, Acropolis Shut, Red Alert In Italy

European authorities throughout the continent have issued temperature warnings as the temperature rises and creates severe heat waves. According to the EU's Copernicus climate monitoring service, last month was recorded as the hottest June.

Europe Heatwaves

The effects of heat waves on the environment, infrastructure, and economy are extensive. The risk of heat-related diseases and deaths is likely to grow, especially for vulnerable groups like the elderly, small children, and people with established medical issues.

Cardiovascular difficulties, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke are all frequent health problems linked to excessive heat. It is significant to highlight that not all of Europe experiences the same effects from heat waves. High temperatures have been present in Italy, Spain, and Greece for several days now.

For the weekend, the Italian health ministry has issued a "red alert" for 16 cities, among them Rome, Bologna, and Florence. Anyone in the areas covered by Saturday's red alerts has been urged by the Italian government to avoid going in direct sunlight between 11:00 & 18:00 and to take extra precautions with the elderly and deficient.

Italy, Greece, Turkey, and the Balkans are all forecast to see their highest temperatures between July 19 and July 23, which might lead to record-breaking heat.
Greece, meanwhile, recently had temperatures of at least 40C (104F). In order to safeguard visitors, Greece's most well-known tourist destination, "the Acropolis, has been shut during the hottest periods of the day.

To lower the risk of wildfires, authorities have prohibited entry to natural reserves and woods. Greek towns also planned to offer air-conditioned spaces in public buildings so that people might escape the heat.

Europe Heatwaves

Wildfires are now far more likely as a result of the intense heat. This past weekend, a single fire on the Spanish island of "La Palma" destroyed 5,000 hectares, forcing 4,000 people to leave their homes. Forecasters also projected a higher chance of forest fires on the Spanish mainland, and in Croatia, fires had already started, destroying homes and automobiles in at least a single village along the Dalmatian coast.

Earlier in the week, temperatures in Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg reached a high of 37.2C, making it the hottest day of the year in Germany. On Saturday (15th July), the nation's weather office also issued heat advisories for almost all of the country, including the famous tourist destination Berlin & Munich.

Natural weather patterns include heatwaves but due to global warming, they are happening more frequently, getting hotter, and lasting longer. In addition, the heat in France, Italy, Germany, and Poland will only become worse over the next few days as per reports.

The Cerberus heatwave is causing the continent as a whole to experience its worst summer ever. Given that the continent is currently preparing for the second heatwave, known as Charon, it appears that the heat stress will not be ending any time soon. It is anticipated that this heat wave might surpass the hottest temperature ever observed in Europe.

Europe Heatwaves

However, Asia as well as Northern America also had severe weather, making Europe not the only continent to experience the heat. While a potent heatwave is currently extending from the U.S. state of California to Texas, Japan has issued a warning about potentially fatal temperatures, with the capital city of Tokyo and other locations recording close to 40C.
