Western Railway Launches New Apps for Ticket Verification and Passenger Complaints

The Western Railway (WR) has launched two new mobile applications to help with ticket verification and passenger complaints on long-distance trains. These apps aim to improve safety and make travel smoother for passengers. By using modern technology, WR hopes to reduce ticket fraud and ensure better services for travelers.

Western Railway Launches New Apps

New Ticket Verification App

The first app, still in its testing phase, is designed to help ticket-checking staff verify tickets more effectively. This app scans ticket details such as the UTS number and mobile number and checks them against the railway's database. This will help in detecting fake tickets, which has been a growing issue, especially with passengers using counterfeit QR codes to travel without valid tickets.

A WR official explained that ticket-checking staff are being trained to use this app. The staff will install the app on their phones and use it to check the authenticity of mobile tickets. This process will make it easier to catch passengers with fake tickets, a challenge that was difficult to handle before.

New Complaint Resolution App

The second app focuses on helping passengers report complaints more easily. Until now, passengers had to use the 139 helpline or the Rail Madad app to report issues. However, with this new app, the ticket supervisor on each train can quickly contact the right staff to resolve complaints.

Common issues like unclean restrooms, water leaks, dirty linens, and food problems will now be addressed faster. The train captain, who is the chief ticket inspector, will use the app to monitor complaints and ensure they are resolved quickly.

The app also allows railway staff to track the details of onboard staff, ensuring that even Travel Ticket Examiners (TTEs) joining the train at later stops can access important information. The app is already being used on premium trains like the Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, and Shatabdi, where it has improved service quality.

Apart from helping passengers, this initiative also helps WR monitor the performance of staff who handle cleaning, catering, and linen services on long-distance trains. This will ensure that passengers receive the best possible service throughout their journey.

By introducing these apps, Western Railway is taking an important step in making train travel safer and more comfortable. These digital solutions will help prevent ticket fraud, make complaint resolution quicker, and improve overall service quality.

The launch of these two apps by Western Railway is a major step towards modernizing train travel in India. By using technology to fight ticket fraud and improve customer service, WR is setting a higher standard for railway operations. Passengers can now look forward to a smoother and safer journey with better service and support from railway staff.
