According to South Western Railway, train number 26651/26652, which operates between KSR Bengaluru and Ernakulam, will now run with 16 coaches instead of the existing eight coaches. The expanded service will operate from both KSR Bengaluru and Ernakulam stations.

How will this Train Benefit Passengers?

The change will effectively double the train's seating capacity, allowing more passengers to travel on the popular Vande Bharat service. The increase in coaches is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Kerala, particularly during the busy travel season.

The KSR Bengaluru-Ernakulam Vande Bharat Express is an important rail connection between Karnataka and Kerala. The service offers passengers a faster and more comfortable alternative for travelling between the two cities and several destinations along the route.

The decision to increase the number of coaches comes at a time when passenger demand on the Bengaluru-Kerala route remains high. With more seats available, travellers are expected to find it easier to get confirmed tickets, especially during weekends, holidays and festival periods.

The expanded train service will also be useful for passengers travelling during the Onam season, when a large number of people travel to Kerala to celebrate the festival with family and friends.

South Western Railway has therefore increased the rake size from eight to 16 coaches to accommodate the growing demand. The revised coach composition will remain effective from August 17, 2026.

Advisory for Bengaluru-Ernakulam Passengers

Passengers planning to travel between Bengaluru and Ernakulam are advised to check the latest railway schedule and ticket availability before making their journey. The increase in capacity is expected to make the popular Bengaluru-Kochi Vande Bharat service more accessible to passengers.
