Indian Railways has announced six additional special trains to manage the heavy rush of pilgrims during the ongoing Shrawani Mela, which will originate from or pass through stations under the East Central Railway (ECR) zone and aim at providing easier travel for devotees heading towards Deoghar and other important pilgrimage centres.

Shrawani Mela Special Trains
According to ECR, the special trains will operate on six routes: Basukinath to Patna, Basukinath to Gorakhpur, Basukinath to Madhupur, Asansol to Gorakhpur, Madhupur to Narkatiaganj and Gaya to Madhupur. These services have been planned due to the sharp increase in passenger demand during the Shrawani Mela, when large numbers of devotees travel to Deoghar to offer prayers at the Baba Baidyanath Temple.
The Basukinath-Patna special train will connect the pilgrimage town with Bihar's capital, helping devotees travelling between the two destinations. The Basukinath-Gorakhpur special will provide a direct travel option for pilgrims coming from eastern Uttar Pradesh and nearby areas.
Another service will operate between Basukinath and Madhupur, providing additional connectivity to one of the important railway points near the Deoghar region. The Asansol-Gorakhpur special train will connect West Bengal with eastern Uttar Pradesh and offer another option for pilgrims travelling towards the pilgrimage area.
The Railways will also run a Madhupur-Narkatiaganj special train, connecting the pilgrimage region with northern Bihar. The sixth service will operate between Gaya and Madhupur, helping passengers from central and southern parts of Bihar reach the region more conveniently.
Special Arrangements Made for Pilgrims
Railway officials have been instructed to closely monitor these services and ensure that trains operate on schedule. Special attention will also be given to cleanliness and passenger facilities. Railway staff will regularly clean coaches, ensure drinking water is available and assist passengers during their journey.
Additional manpower has also been deployed at important railway stations to manage the large crowds and assist pilgrims during the festival period. The arrangements are intended to make travel smoother and safer for devotees visiting the Shrawani Mela.
