Railways Extends Visakhapatnam–Tirupati and Visakhapatnam–Charlapalli Weekly Special Trains for Pongal Rush

To manage the extra rush of passengers during the Pongal festival season, Indian Railways has decided to extend the running of several weekly special trains. This step has been taken to provide more travel options and make journeys smoother and more comfortable for people traveling during the festive period.

Visakhapatnam-Tirupati Special Train

As part of this plan, the Visakhapatnam-Tirupati weekly special train (08583) will run on Mondays from January 5 to February 23. The train will leave Visakhapatnam at 7.10 pm and reach Tirupati at 9.15 am the next day. In total, eight trips will be operated. In the return direction, the Tirupati-Visakhapatnam weekly special train (08584) will run on Tuesdays from January 6 to February 24. It will depart Tirupati at 9.50 pm and arrive in Visakhapatnam at 12.30 pm the following day, also completing eight trips.

Special Trains

Another set of weekly special trains will operate midweek. The Visakhapatnam-Tirupati special train (08547) will leave Visakhapatnam every Wednesday at 7.00 pm from January 7 to February 25 and reach Tirupati the next morning at 9.15 am. The return service, Tirupati-Visakhapatnam special train (08548), will depart Tirupati every Thursday at 9.50 pm from January 8 to February 26 and reach Visakhapatnam at 11.30 am the next day. These services will also make eight trips each.

Visakhapatnam-Charlapalli Special Train

Moreover, the Visakhapatnam-Charlapalli weekly special train (08579) will run every Friday from January 2 to February 27, leaving at 5.30 pm and reaching Charlapalli at 8.00 am the next day. The return train (08580) will leave Charlapalli every Saturday from January 3 to February 28 at 3.30 pm and reach Visakhapatnam at 7.00 am the following day, with nine trips in each direction.

These special trains will stop at several important stations along the route to help passengers from different regions. Travelers are advised to make use of these extended special train services during the Pongal season.
