The Uttar Pradesh government has started a major project to improve tourism in Varanasi, especially focusing on the city's famous ghats. A total budget of Rs 32.93 crore has been set for this work, which includes development, beautification, and better facilities for tourists. The government has already released Rs 13 crore to begin the work.

This plan comes after the opening of the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, which brought many more visitors to Varanasi. Seeing this positive response, the state government has decided to improve other important areas of the city.
Assi Ghat to Get Rs 6.20 Crore for Beautification
Assi Ghat, one of the most popular spots for visitors, will be beautified using Rs 6.20 crore. From this, Rs 2.50 crore has already been released to start the work. The stretch from Assi Ghat to Dashashwamedh Ghat is also getting Rs 6.14 crore for repair and development, with an equal amount of Rs 2.50 crore already provided.
Dashashwamedh Ghat to Kashi Vishwanath Ghat Gets Rs 6.16 Crore
Another important stretch, from Dashashwamedh Ghat to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Ghat, will see a makeover with Rs 6.16 crore. This part will also have better pathways and improved surroundings to help tourists move easily between the temple and ghats.
More Funds for Ghats Between Assi and Ravidas Ghat
A major part of the budget, Rs 8.24 crore, is going to be spent on the area between Assi Ghat and Ravidas Ghat. Out of this, Rs 3 crore has already been released. These improvements will help make the riverbank cleaner and more beautiful for both pilgrims and tourists.
Work Also Planned for Golaghat to Namo Ghat
The government will also upgrade the area from Golaghat to Namo Ghat. This part of the project will cost Rs 6.17 crore, with Rs 2.50 crore already given to begin the work.
Chitrakoot's Ramghat Also to Be Developed
Not only Varanasi, but the development plan also includes Ramghat in Chitrakoot. The work here includes widening and beautification of the area. After Rs 75 lakh was given last year, another Rs 12.50 crore has now been released.
These large-scale projects show the UP government's strong effort to improve tourism. By developing the ghats and historical areas, the aim is to offer a better experience to visitors and highlight the rich culture and heritage of Varanasi and nearby areas.
