A proposal has been put forward to improve rail connectivity in Rajasthan by introducing a new Vande Bharat train between Jaipur and Bikaner via Sikar. This demand was raised in the Rajya Sabha by Member of Parliament Ghanshyam Tiwari, who stressed the need for better and faster train services in

the region.
Vande Bharat Train in Jaipur
The suggested route will connect important cities and towns with high passenger movement. Jaipur, the state capital, is a major center for tourism and religious travel activities. Every day, many tourists, pilgrims, and local commuters travel to and from the city, creating a steady need for fast and more comfortable transport options.
Vande Bharat Train to Pass Through Sikar & Bikaner
The proposed train will pass through Sikar and till Bikaner, covering areas that currently don't have semi-high-speed train services, including Vande Bharat. At present, there is no such train on this route, even though passenger numbers have been increasing over time.
Reasons Behind this Proposal
There are several reasons supporting this proposal. Jaipur is home to famous temples such as Govind Dev Ji, Gopinath Ji, and Moti Dungri Ganesh Ji, attracting many visitors. Routes through Sikar also lead to popular religious places, such as Khatu Shyam Ji and Salasar, with regular travel for religious purposes.
Sikar has also become an important educational hub, with over three lakh students studying in different institutions. This leads to frequent travel, especially between Jaipur and Sikar. Additionally, business activities between Jaipur, Sikar, and Bikaner further increase passenger demand.
Currently, Vande Bharat trains run from Jaipur to cities like Delhi, Jodhpur, and Dehradun, but not on this route. Introducing this train could reduce travel time, improve comfort, and benefit people. However, the final decision will depend on feasibility studies and approval by railway authorities.
