Uttar Pradesh Transport Upgrade: 12 New Bus Terminals & 5,000 Electric Buses for These Cities

The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) is set to undergo a major overhaul, which includes the construction of 12 new bus terminals and the addition of 5,000 electric buses to its fleet. This comprehensive action plan is being implemented under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Uttar Pradesh New Terminals amp amp E Buses

New Bus Terminals and Renovations

The UPSRTC plans to construct new bus terminals and renovate existing ones in several key cities, including Agra, Gorakhpur, Mirzapur, Bulandshahr, Garhmukteshwar, Mathura, Kanpur Central, and Varanasi Cantt. These projects aim to provide modern facilities for travelers and to transform these spaces into commercial areas. This initiative is expected to create a revenue generation model that will not only enhance traveler experience but also increase UPSRTC's income.

Addition of Electric Buses

In a significant move towards sustainable transportation, UPSRTC is adding 5,000 electric buses to its fleet. These electric buses will be equipped with panic button systems to enhance passenger safety. The process to acquire these buses, which was temporarily halted due to the Lok Sabha elections, has resumed. The tender process for the new buses will restart on June 14, and the buses are expected to join the fleet within the next six months.

Expansion Plans

UPSRTC has ambitious plans to expand its current fleet of 12,300 buses to 50,000 in the coming years. This expansion is aimed at providing better and more extensive public transportation options across Uttar Pradesh.

Additional Initiatives

UPSRTC is also implementing several other initiatives to improve its services and infrastructure:

Automated Fuel Management System: UPSRTC has adopted a sensor-based Automated Fuel Management System in collaboration with Indian Oil to prevent fuel pilferage.

Technological Advancements: The Uttar Pradesh government is exploring advanced technological capabilities to enhance citizen-centric services in state transport.

Service Quality and Safety: Measures are being taken to improve the service quality and safety of UPSRTC buses to attract more passengers.

These initiatives reflect UPSRTC's commitment to providing efficient, safe, and modern transportation services to the public. For more detailed information, you can visit the official UPSRTC website.
