Night-time suburban train services between Chennai Beach and Tambaram will face cancellations and partial cancellations for nearly two weeks from August 25 to September 6 due to redevelopment work at Chennai Egmore railway station.
Chennai-Tambaram Suburban Train Services to Undergo Changes
The disruption will mainly affect train services operating between 11.15 pm and 4.15 am. Railway authorities are carrying out construction work to install an iron foot overbridge at Egmore station. The station is currently being redeveloped at an estimated cost of Rs 842 crore.
From August 25 to September 5, several Chennai Beach-Tambaram services will be cancelled on weekdays. Trains scheduled to leave Chennai Beach for Tambaram at 10.20 pm, 11.20 pm, 11.40 pm and 11.59 pm will not operate.
Some other services will also be partially cancelled between Tambaram and Chennai Beach. These include the 8 pm Tirumalpur-Chennai Beach train, the 10.15 pm and 11.20 pm services from Guduvanchery, and the 10.20 pm and 11 pm services from Chengalpattu.
The 3.50 am Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu service will also be partially cancelled between Chennai Beach and Tambaram from August 26 to September 7 on weekdays.
A few trains will operate at revised timings. The Chennai Beach-Guduvanchery service scheduled for 9.45 pm will leave at 9.50 pm. The Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu service planned for 10.20 pm will instead depart at 10.15 pm.
There will also be changes on Sundays, particularly August 30 and September 6. Several late-night services between Chennai Beach and Tambaram will be cancelled. These include trains scheduled at 10 pm, 11.20 pm, 11.40 pm and 11.59 pm from Chennai Beach.
Some services from Tambaram, Tirumalpur and Chengalpattu will also be cancelled or partially cancelled. A few trains will run at revised timings, including the Chennai Beach-Guduvanchery service and Chennai Beach-Chengalpattu services.
Passengers travelling during these dates are advised to check the latest train timings before starting their journey and plan accordingly.
