In preparation for the festive season, the Transport Corporation in Lucknow has announced that 316 additional buses will be running to help people travel easily during Diwali and Chhath Puja. The special bus services will operate from October 29 to November 10, covering key routes like Lucknow-Gorakhpur, Delhi, Azamgarh, and Prayagraj. This initiative is aimed at helping people who are traveling home from other states for the festivals, making sure they can celebrate with loved ones.

Diwali and Chhath Puja Dates and Significance
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, will be celebrated on November 12, 2024. It is one of India's most cherished festivals, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Shortly after Diwali, Chhath Puja is observed on November 17, 2024, primarily in Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh. This ancient Hindu festival is dedicated to the Sun God, Surya, and is celebrated to express gratitude for life's blessings and seek well-being for family and friends.
Special Bus Operations for Festive Travelers
The 316 extra buses provided by the Transport Corporation are meant to accommodate the high number of travelers heading home for Diwali and Chhath. All nine depots in the region are involved in this operation, with buses covering not only main routes but also several district routes. Popular routes include those connecting Lucknow to major cities like Gorakhpur, Delhi, Azamgarh, and Prayagraj. These routes are especially important as they help people return from various states to celebrate with their families.
Continuous Service and Regional Management
To ensure smooth travel during this busy period, the Transport Corporation has directed all regional and assistant regional managers to operate these additional buses continuously. Starting from Dhanteras, the extra buses will be running throughout Diwali and Chhath Puja, providing essential services and making it easier for people to reach their destinations without delay.
Supporting Festive Travel with Extra Buses
With the addition of these buses, the Transport Corporation aims to reduce the pressure on regular transport services, making the journey home comfortable and safe for travelers. This move not only ensures easy accessibility for those returning for Diwali and Chhath Puja but also shows a strong commitment to supporting people's festive journeys across Uttar Pradesh.
