Indian Railways has recently approved a new Vande Bharat Express train that will run between Udaipur City and Asarwa, made by the Railway Board to improve fast, comfortable rail travel between these two regions. The new service aims to offer better connectivity and faster journeys for passengers between southern Rajasthan and western India.

Udaipur-Asarwa Vande Bharat Express
The Udaipur-Asarwa Vande Bharat Express will operate six days a week, except on Tuesdays. It will leave Udaipur early in the morning, reach Ahmedabad by late morning, then return in the evening to arrive back in Udaipur at night. Important stops along the way will include Zawar, Dungarpur, and Himmatnagar, helping connect smaller towns and major cities. The train is expected to run at speeds up to 160 km/h, offering a faster and more comfortable journey than many existing trains on this route.
Discontinuation of Two Vande Bharat Express Services
At the same time this new train was approved, the Railway Board has decided to discontinue two existing Vande Bharat Express services that currently run out of Udaipur City. These are the Udaipur-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express and the Udaipur-Agra Cantt Vande Bharat Express, which will stop running in mid-February 2026 as part of this operational change.
Why is the Change Necessary?
Railway officials say this change is to better use the train sets (rakes) and match services with where passenger demand is highest. By stopping the older routes and introducing the Udaipur-Ahmedabad connection, Indian Railways hopes to improve efficiency and offer more useful train services for people traveling in western and northern India.
