Southern Railway has announced temporary changes to train services on July 18 due to engineering works for the maintenance and rehabilitation of railway bridges in the Erode-Karur section. The work is being carried out to improve railway infrastructure and ensure safe train operations.

List of Trains to be Affected on 18 July
According to a statement issued by the Salem Railway Division, Train No. 56809 Tiruchi-Erode Passenger, which is scheduled to leave Tiruchi Junction at 7.25 am, will not run beyond Karur Junction on July 18. As a result, there will be no passenger service between Karur and Erode on that day.
Similarly, Train No. 16845 Erode-Sengottai Express, which normally starts from Erode Junction at 2 pm, will instead begin its journey from Karur Junction at 3.05 pm on July 18. This means the train will not operate between Erode and Karur before starting its scheduled journey from Karur.
Another service, Train No. 16846 Sengottai-Erode Express, which departs Sengottai at 5.20 am, will be short-terminated at Karur Railway Station on July 18. The train will not continue to Erode as per its regular schedule due to engineering work.
After the bridge maintenance work is completed, the railway authorities will operate a special unreserved train from Karur to Erode. This special service will follow the same route and stop at all the regular stations served by the Sengottai-Erode Express, ensuring passengers can continue their journey with minimal inconvenience.
Advisory for Passengers
Southern Railway has advised passengers travelling on these routes to check the revised schedules before starting their journey. The temporary changes have been made to allow essential bridge maintenance work to be completed safely while minimising disruption to train services.
