The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will carry out major signalling upgrades at the New Jalpaiguri Yard under the Katihar Division from July 26 to July 28. The railway zone will commission a Multi-Section Digital Axle Counter (MSDAC) system during this period to improve train detection, enhance safety, and ensure smoother train movement.

List of Trains to be Affected
According to NFR, Train No. 55749/55750 New Jalpaiguri-Haldibari-New Jalpaiguri Passenger will remain cancelled on July 28 due to the signalling work.
The popular Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express will also face changes. Train No. 22301 Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express, scheduled to start its journey on July 28, will be short-terminated at Kishanganj. Due to this, the service between Kishanganj and New Jalpaiguri will remain cancelled.
Similarly, Train No. 22302 New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, which was scheduled to depart on July 28, will now begin its journey from Kishanganj instead of New Jalpaiguri. The section between New Jalpaiguri and Kishanganj will not be operational for this train.
Apart from cancellations, some long-distance trains will also run with revised timings. Train No. 14037 Silchar-New Delhi Express, starting on July 27, will leave Silchar at 9:10 pm instead of its scheduled time of 7:10 pm, causing a delay of two hours.
Train No. 12510 Guwahati-SMVT Bengaluru Express, scheduled for July 28, will depart from Guwahati at 7:45 am instead of 6:15 am.
Meanwhile, Train No. 13142 New Alipurduar-Sealdah Express will leave New Alipurduar at 12:50 pm instead of 11:50 am on July 28.
How will the New Signalling System Improve Operations?
The new digital signalling system is expected to make railway operations more efficient by providing better monitoring of train movements and reducing the chances of errors. However, due to the installation work, several passenger train services will be affected. The changes include cancellations, partial cancellations, diversions, and revised departure timings.
Advisory for Residents
Passengers travelling during this period are advised to check updated train schedules before starting their journey. The temporary changes have been introduced to support important infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving railway safety and efficiency.
