High Ridership in Hyderabad's Metro Stations

Metro Rail officials have seen a sudden increase in ridership at stations, including LB Nagar, Nagole, and Ameerpet. The Hyderabad Metro, which starts operating at 6 a.m., witnessed a sharp rise in ridership as people preferred faster travel options. Most commuters were heading toward Ameerpet and Raidurg, the city's major business areas.

Management of Festive Crowd

To manage the festive crowd, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) operated extra buses. On Sunday night alone, 751 special buses were deployed in the Hyderabad region to transport people returning from outstation routes. Across the state, nearly 8,000 special services were operated over the weekend. Officials stated that between September 20 and early October, 7,754 special buses were arranged and 617 more than during last year's Dasara festival. For return trips on October 5 and 6, special bus stops were set up at key locations, including KPHB Colony, Uppal Crossroads, Uppal Bus Stand, Dilsukhnagar, LB Nagar, and Aramghar, to drop passengers close to their homes.

Rodha Vasundhara, principal of a city school, said that Dasara is one of the few times when schools get long vacations after the summer break. The holidays began on September 22, and though schools were supposed to reopen on October 4, most started on October 6 due to the weekend. Meanwhile, South Central Railway reported running 2,050 special trains in different directions from mid-September to mid-October to accommodate festival travellers.
