The eighth driverless train for the Yellow Line of Namma Metro has arrived at the Hebbagodi depot in Bengaluru, according to officials. The six-coach train reached the city on Monday morning after starting its journey from Kolkata on January 10. It was sent by Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd., a company

based in Kolkata, and was brought to Bengaluru using special trailers.
Trial Runs Completion
With the arrival of this new train set, preparations are underway to begin trial runs. Testing of the rake is expected to start on Tuesday. These trial runs are an important step before the train is allowed to carry passengers as part of regular services. Officials said that once all safety checks and tests are completed, the train will be added to commercial operations on the Yellow Line.
Bengaluru Yellow Line Metro Trains
Currently, metro trains on the Yellow Line operate at 10-minute intervals. After the new driverless trainset becomes operational, authorities expect the waiting time between trains to reduce. The headway is likely to improve to around 8 to 10 minutes by making travel more convenient and reducing crowding for daily commuters using this route.
Yellow Line Metro Corridor
The Yellow Line is a 19.15-kilometre-long metro corridor that connects R.V. Road to Bommasandra. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the project on August 10, 2025, and passenger services began the following day. Since then, the line has played an essential role in the development of public transportation in the city.
This corridor is especially significant as it links the southern residential areas of Bengaluru with the Electronics City industrial and IT hub. It also connects with the larger Namma Metro network, helping thousands of passengers travel faster and more comfortably every day.
