Southern Railway has extended several special train services between Bengaluru, Hubballi and Kerala to meet high passenger demand during the Onam season and help people travelling to Kerala for the festival who may want to extend their holidays.
Onam Special Trains between Bengaluru, Hubballi, & Kerala
A total of 112 special train services have been approved for the Onam rush. Southern Railway will operate 54 of these services, while the remaining 58 will be handled by other railway zones. The services were initially planned for the peak festival period from August 14 to September 6, 2026. Several services have now been extended until the end of September.
• The extended services between SMVT Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram North include Train No. 06523, which will run on Mondays from September 7 to 28, and Train No. 06524, which will operate on Tuesdays from September 8 to 29. Train Nos. 06547 and 06548 will run between Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram North on Wednesdays and Thursdays, respectively, through September 23 and 24.
• Train Nos. 06555 and 06556 will also operate between the two cities on Fridays and Sundays, with services continuing until September 25 and 27.
• The Hubballi-Kollam special trains will also continue. Train No. 07313 will run from Hubballi to Kollam on Sundays from September 6 to 27, while Train No. 07314 will operate from Kollam to Hubballi on Mondays from September 7 to 28.
• Other special services include Train No. 07196 between Kollam and Charlapalli, running on Saturdays from August 15 to September 5 for four trips. Train No. 07097 will connect Hyderabad with Mangaluru Central on Wednesdays from August 19 to September 2, while the return service, Train No. 07098, will operate on Thursdays from August 20 to September 3.
Additional one-trip services will also run between Hubballi and Kottayam. Train Nos. 07351 and 07352 will operate on August 25 and 26, while Train Nos. 07353 and 07354 will run on August 29 and 30. The extended services are expected to provide more travel options and reduce pressure on regular trains during the Onam season.
