The Indian Railways is starting two new weekly Amrit Bharat Express trains that will travel through Visakhapatnam (Vizag), strengthening links between southern and northeastern parts of India. These new services were announced after Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the first Amrit Bharat trains in January 2026.

Nagercoil-New Jalpaiguri Weekly Amrit Bharat Express
The first service is the Nagercoil-New Jalpaiguri Weekly Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 20604/20603). It will begin operations from Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu. The train will leave Nagercoil every Sunday at 11 pm starting January 25 and arrive in Visakhapatnam early Tuesday at 4:10 am. It will continue to New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and reach there by Wednesday morning. On the return trip, this train will depart New Jalpaiguri every Wednesday afternoon to go back to Nagercoil.
Tiruchchirappalli-New Jalpaiguri Weekly Amrit Bharat Express
The second new service is the Tiruchchirappalli-New Jalpaiguri Weekly Amrit Bharat Express (Train No. 20610/20609). This one will start running from Tiruchchirappalli in Tamil Nadu from January 28 and will arrive in Visakhapatnam early the next morning. On the return trip, it will leave New Jalpaiguri every Friday.
Both new trains will stop at Duvvada and Visakhapatnam stations, which means people in these cities get more travel choices and easier connections when travelling long distances across the country. This expansion is especially helpful for passengers travelling between the south of India and the northeastern states, where there is demand for better rail links.
These new weekly Amrit Bharat Express services are part of Indian Railways' plan to improve long-distance rail travel and offer more modern, reliable trains that connect far-off regions in the country.
