Hyderabad-Origin Trains Now Run as Regular Trains: Kacheguda–Tuticorin, Hyderabad–Kanyakumari and One More

The Ministry of Railways has announced that three special trains starting from Hyderabad will now run as regular trains. This decision was taken because many passengers have been using these trains regularly, creating steady demand on the routes. The move is expected to benefit travellers from Telangana and Andhra

Kacheguda-Tuticorin Express

The first train is the Kacheguda-Tuticorin Express, which replaces the earlier Kacheguda-Madurai special train. This train will leave Kacheguda every Monday at 3 p.m. and reach Tuticorin on Tuesday. For the return journey, it will depart Tuticorin on Wednesday and arrive back at Kacheguda on Thursday at 1:25 p.m.

Hyderabad-Kanyakumari Express

The second service is the Hyderabad-Kanyakumari Express, which replaces the Hyderabad-Kanyakumari special train. It will leave Hyderabad on Wednesdays at 5:20 p.m. and reach Kanyakumari early Friday at 2:30 a.m. On the return trip, the train will depart Kanyakumari on Friday and reach Hyderabad on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

Cherlapalli-Shalimar Amrit Bharat Express

The third train is the Cherlapalli-Shalimar Amrit Bharat Express, which replaces the earlier Cherlapalli-Shalimar special train. This train will depart from Cherlapalli every Tuesday at 7:15 a.m. and reach Shalimar on Wednesday at 11:20 a.m. It will return from Shalimar on Wednesday and arrive at Cherlapalli on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Improvement in Railway Infrastructure

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy welcomed the Railways' decision and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for their efforts to improve railway infrastructure in Telangana.

He said Telangana has received ₹36,286 crore in railway budget allocations since 2014. Projects worth ₹47,984 crore are currently being developed in the state. Around 40 railway stations are being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme with an investment of ₹2,668 crore.

Currently, five Vande Bharat Express trains and four Amrit Bharat Express trains operate in the region. Surveys for three high-speed rail corridors have also recently been approved.
