Southern Railway has announced special train services between Thiruvananthapuram and Podanur Junction to help passengers travel more conveniently. These trains will run via Palani and are expected to provide additional travel options for people during the specified dates.
Thiruvananthapuram-Podanur Special Train
According to the railway notification, Train No. 06079 Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli)-Podanur Junction Express Special will operate on two Wednesdays, June 3 and June 10. The train will depart from Thiruvananthapuram North (Kochuveli) at 1:00 p.m. and reach Podanur Junction at 6:45 a.m. the following day. This overnight service is expected to benefit passengers travelling between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
For the return journey, Southern Railway will run Train No. 06080 Podanur Junction-Thiruvananthapuram Central Express Special. This train will leave Podanur Junction at 5:00 p.m. on Thursdays, June 4 and June 11, and arrive at Thiruvananthapuram Central at 7:15 a.m. the next morning.

The introduction of these special trains is aimed at meeting additional passenger demand and ensuring smoother travel during the period. Travellers heading to destinations along the route, including Palani and nearby areas, can make use of these temporary services for a more comfortable journey.

Southern Railway has also informed passengers that reservations for both special train services have already started. Passengers planning to travel on these trains can book their tickets through railway reservation counters or online booking platforms. Since special trains often attract good demand, passengers are advised to reserve their seats early to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
