Thane city is set to make history by becoming home to India's first multimodal integrated transport station once the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train begins operations. This project is expected to bring large investments to the region and create thousands of new job opportunities. An international conference was held on Friday, where

officials from the Central and Maharashtra governments, Gujarat, Japan, and local authorities came together to discuss how to make this transport hub a model for future cities.
Thane Bullet Train to Enhance Commutation
The upcoming Thane bullet train station will be designed to connect multiple transport systems in one place. The bullet train route will have 12 stations in total, out of which four are in Maharashtra: Mumbai, Thane, Virar, and Boisar. Passengers will be able to switch easily between bullet trains, local trains, metro, inner metro, buses, boats, taxis, auto-rickshaws, and even roads leading to the airport, making travel faster and more convenient for everyone. Thane's municipal commissioner shared that over 25% of the station area will be kept as green space, ensuring an eco-friendly environment with parks and open areas. All public transport options will be available at a single, well-organised location, reducing travel stress and saving time.
Experts from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) explained how bullet train stations have helped transform Japanese cities, giving confidence that Thane could see similar growth. State officials also mentioned that this will support transit-oriented development, encouraging better city planning around transport links and stations at BKC, Virar, and Boisar. Moreover, the Thane station is expected to boost economic growth, attract industries, and improve travel for millions of people.
