Telangana Weather: Rising Heatwave Conditions Push Temperatures Beyond 40°C

Telangana is witnessing a steady rise in daytime temperatures, with several districts already crossing the 40°C mark as dry weather conditions continue to dominate. According to the India Meteorological Department, this trend is expected to persist over the coming days, with no immediate signs of rainfall or major weather disturbances across the state.

Current Temperature Trends Across Telangana

Over the past 24-48 hours, multiple districts have recorded significantly high temperatures, indicating an early build-up of summer heat. Areas such as Jagitial (Endapalli), Khammam, Mulugu, Nalgonda, and Nirmal have all reported temperatures exceeding 40°C, with Endapalli emerging among the hottest at approximately 41.7°C.

Statewide, the average maximum temperature is hovering around 39.5°C, which is slightly above seasonal norms. This marginal positive departure reflects a gradual intensification of heat conditions across interior Telangana regions.

In comparison, Hyderabad has recorded relatively lower temperatures, ranging between 37.6°C and 38.8°C, with pockets like Asifnagar touching close to 39°C. However, forecasts suggest that even the capital could soon see temperatures rise to the 39-40°C range, especially under partly cloudy and hazy morning conditions.

Forecast: Dry Spell to Continue

The IMD indicates that dry weather will prevail across Telangana for at least the next week, with maximum temperatures likely to increase by 2-3°C in the coming days. Importantly, no official weather warnings or alerts have been issued yet, but the consistent rise in heat levels signals the onset of more intense summer conditions.

Humidity levels are expected to remain relatively low during the day, contributing to hot and dry afternoons, while mornings may feel slightly hazy due to suspended particles and heat build-up.

Wider Regional Context

Recent observations from independent heat trackers and weather datasets also indicate that Telangana is among the regions experiencing above-normal daytime temperatures. Alongside cities like Bengaluru and Chennai, Hyderabad has shown a consistent upward temperature trend, though interior districts remain significantly hotter.

The absence of cloud cover and rainfall activity is allowing solar radiation to directly heat the land surface, accelerating temperature rise-particularly in northern and eastern parts of the state.

What It Means for Residents

With no immediate relief expected, heat levels are likely to intensify gradually, especially in districts already breaching the 40°C threshold. Outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours may become increasingly uncomfortable, while urban areas like Hyderabad could begin experiencing higher "feels-like" temperatures due to heat retention and built-up surfaces.

Overall, Telangana is entering a prolonged dry and hot phase, marking the early stages of peak summer. Residents can expect rising temperatures over the next few days, making it essential to stay updated with local forecasts and plan daily activities accordingly.
