The Chennai Meteorological Centre has predicted that light rainfall may occur in some parts of Tamil Nadu until April 21. This is expected to bring some relief to people living in the Western Ghats regions, coastal areas of the Delta districts, a few places in Ramanathapuram district, and the Karaikal region, where rain is likely.

At the same time, the weather department has warned about rising heat and humidity. People in coastal Tamil Nadu, as well as in Puducherry and Karaikal, may feel uncomfortable due to the combination of high temperatures and moisture. In some districts, temperatures could go up to 3°C above normal levels until April 19, making the weather even hotter. In Chennai, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy. However, temperatures may rise up to around 100°F, about 38°C, which can make the day feel very hot. Because of this, people are advised to avoid going outside unless necessary, especially during the afternoon when the heat is strongest.
Advisory for Residents
The weather officials have also suggested drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated and prevent heat-related problems. Extra care should be taken for children, elderly people, and those with health issues, as they are more vulnerable to extreme heat. Residents are strongly advised to stay safe by limiting sun exposure, staying indoors during peak hours, and following basic precautions to deal with the summer heat.
Although light rain may offer some short relief in certain areas, most parts of the state will continue to experience hot and humid conditions.
