Sri Lanka has announced an exciting new plan to boost tourism by offering visa-free access to citizens from 35 countries, including India. This program will begin on October 1, 2024, and will continue for six months. The goal is to attract more tourists and help revive the country's economy, which has faced challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a severe financial crisis.

The list of countries eligible for visa-free entry includes major nations like the UK, USA, Canada, Germany, Australia, Saudi Arabia, China, India, Russia, South Korea, and Japan. Tourists from these countries will be granted a 30-day visa under this pilot program.
This initiative is part of Sri Lanka's broader efforts to become a more tourist-friendly destination, similar to popular countries like Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Known for its beautiful beaches, ancient temples, and aromatic tea, Sri Lanka is an attractive destination for travelers.
Visa-Free Travel Requirements
For the new visa-free program in Sri Lanka, travelers from the eligible 35 countries, including India, will not need to apply for a visa in advance. However, there are still some general requirements and recommendations to keep in mind:
1. Valid Passport: Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Sri Lanka.
