The requirement that travellers must carry a negative certificate in addition to proof of vaccination has been removed by Sri Lanka. For many reasons, this requirement made it difficult for visitors who wanted to tour Sri Lanka. However, Sri Lanka has finally made it simple to travel.
Asela Gunawardena, director general of health services, announced that as a result of this new development, travellers to Sri Lanka are no longer subject to the COVID-19 regulations that were previously mandated by a circular released in 2021.
When Sri Lanka opened its borders to foreign visitors during the COVID crisis in 2021, it had previously demanded, a negative COVID-19 test & proof of vaccination.
Anyone travelling from abroad no longer needs to show a Covid-19 vaccination certificate, effective immediately. Additionally, a negative Covid-19 test result upon arrival or before boarding including those obtained via PCR and RAT was no longer required.
However, one needs to note that if anyone tests positive for COVID-19 after arriving in Sri Lanka, they will be required to remain isolated for 7 days. Overall, with this news, travelers are for sure encouraged to travel to Sri Lanka and this will help Sri Lanka to boost their travel, tourism and hospitality industry better. With this new travel guideline, Sri Lanka made it easier for every foreign traveler to land in their country and witness its beauty.
