The Northern Railway's Jammu division has announced that special reserved trains will run between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar for two days to help manage the large number of people travelling to the snow-covered Kashmir Valley. This decision was made because many travellers and tourists are currently visiting the region, and the extra trains will make travel easier and less crowded.

Special Trains to Operate
According to the railway officials, these special trains will run on February 3 and February 4. On February 3, the first special train (Train No. 04627) will leave SMVD Katra early in the morning and reach Srinagar by mid-morning. Later that afternoon, the return train (Train No. 04628) will take passengers back to Katra, with both trains stopping at Banihal station along the way.
On February 4, another pair of special trains will operate. The outward train (Train No. 04629) will depart from Katra late in the morning and arrive in Srinagar in the early afternoon. The return train (Train No. 04630) will leave Srinagar in the afternoon and reach Katra by early evening. Like the previous day, these trains will also stop at Banihal station.
How Will These Special Trains Be Beneficial?
Railway officials said that similar special trains were run on January 27 and 28, and they were very helpful to both local passengers and tourists. Because these services were successful, the railway decided to run them again to support passengers during the current rush. The aim is to make travel more comfortable and convenient for people coming to and from the Kashmir Valley during this busy time.
Moreover, the Northern Railway is adding extra train services for two days to reduce crowding on the Katra-Srinagar route and to give travellers better travel options.
