To meet the growing demand for high-speed rail travel, the South Central Railway (SCR) has increased the number of coaches on the Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express. Starting this Saturday, the train will operate with 20 coaches, up from the previous 16. This change will boost passenger capacity from 1,128 to 1,440, offering more travelers the chance to experience the speed and comfort of India's premier train service.

The upgrade involves adding four extra coaches to the train. Previously, the train had 14 chair cars and two executive class coaches, which could carry 1,024 and 104 passengers, respectively. With 18 chair cars now included, the train will seat 1,336 passengers in chair cars while maintaining the two executive class coaches for 104 passengers. This adjustment ensures the train can cater to the increasing number of commuters using the service daily.
Timely Upgrade for the Sankranti Season
SCR's General Manager, Arun Kumar Jain, emphasized the importance of this expansion during the upcoming Sankranti festival. "The augmentation of the coaches during this peak Sankranti season is also a timely addition, as more people will be able to visit their native places to celebrate the festival," he said. The decision reflects SCR's focus on enhancing passenger convenience during this culturally significant time when travel demand typically peaks.
The Vande Bharat express has consistently performed well since it began regular operations, running at over 130% capacity. The train's popularity highlights the public's preference for fast and efficient travel options. By increasing the number of coaches, SCR is addressing this overwhelming response and ensuring more passengers can benefit from the premium service.
Enhancing the Travel Experience
The Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam Vande Bharat Express has become a symbol of modern rail travel in India. Known for its speed, comfort, and advanced features, the train has attracted a growing number of passengers since its launch. This expansion demonstrates SCR's commitment to meeting passenger needs and improving travel experiences.
With this upgrade, the Vande Bharat Express now accommodates more travelers, making it a convenient option, especially during the festive season. The addition of coaches ensures smoother travel for passengers heading home for Sankranti, further solidifying the train's reputation as a preferred travel choice.
This expansion marks another step forward in improving India's railway services. By responding to passenger demands and enhancing capacity, SCR continues to provide efficient, comfortable, and timely travel options for millions of commuters.
