Meerut and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh. With this, the entire RRTS corridor has now become fully operational.

Sarai Kale Khan to be the Multi-Modal Transport Hub

The launch has also made Sarai Kale Khan one of the largest multi-modal transport hubs in Delhi. The station now connects the RRTS with the Delhi Metro, the railway network, the interstate bus terminal, and the Ring Road, making travel more convenient for passengers.

Delhi & Meerut Metro Connection

Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the combined network of the Delhi Metro and the Delhi section of the RRTS has now crossed the length of the metro system in New York. He explained that earlier, travelling between Delhi and Meerut by road took about three hours, but with the RRTS, the journey now takes only around 55 minutes. He added that Delhi's metro network was about 393 km long, and with the addition of the RRTS section, it has increased to around 420 km, which is longer than New York's 399 km network. Khattar described the RRTS as a faster form of metro rail.

Officials' Opinions

He also said that in the future, Sarai Kale Khan will grow into an even bigger transport hub. After cabinet approval, rapid rail projects connecting Karnal, Bawal, and Neemrana in Haryana and Rajasthan will begin from this station.Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta welcomed the project, saying it will reduce travel time and make daily commuting easier. She said it will support economic growth, create jobs, and promote balanced development across the Delhi-NCR region.

Officials from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) said a 280-metre-long foot overbridge with six automatic travelators is being built to connect the RRTS station with Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station.
