To manage the increased number of passengers during July, Indian Railways has announced weekly special train services between Sambalpur in Odisha and Erode in Tamil Nadu. These special trains are being introduced to provide extra seats and make travel more convenient during the busy travel season.

Sambalpur-Erode Special Train
According to a statement issued by the Salem Railway Division, Train No. 08311 Sambalpur-Erode Weekly Special will run every Wednesday from July 1 to July 29, making a total of five trips. The train will leave Sambalpur at 11:35 a.m. and reach Erode at 10:50 p.m. on the following day, Thursday.
In the return direction, Train No. 08312 Erode-Sambalpur Weekly Special will operate every Friday from July 3 to July 31, also completing five trips. It will depart from Erode at 2:35 p.m. and arrive in Sambalpur at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Special Train Features
The trains will have a variety of coach classes to suit different passenger needs. These include AC First Class, AC Two-Tier, AC Three-Tier, Sleeper Class, and General Second Class coaches. In addition, the trains will also include Luggage-cum-Brake Van coaches with reserved space and facilities for persons with disabilities, ensuring that passengers with special needs can travel comfortably.
Why are these Special Trains Introduced?
These special trains have been introduced to reduce the extra rush of passengers and offer more travel options for people travelling between Odisha and Tamil Nadu during the month of July. The additional services will help meet the growing travel demand while offering safe and comfortable transportation.
Advisory for Passengers
The Salem Railway Division has advised passengers to check the train schedule and book their tickets in advance, as demand is expected to be high. The operation of these special trains is expected to provide relief to regular trains on the route, which often witness heavy passenger traffic during holiday periods and the summer travel season.
