Indian Railways is planning a new train service to connect Bengaluru and Goa using a Vande Bharat Express train. If approved by the Railway Board, this service will shorten the travel time between the two cities to about 13 hours. Currently, trains on this route take longer, so the new

proposal aims to make rail travel faster and more convenient. The idea was put forward jointly by South Western Railway, Southern Railway and Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. The proposal has been sent to the Railway Board for approval, and officials are waiting for the final go-ahead before setting the timetable and other details.
Vande Bharat to Start from Bangalore
Under the plan, the Vande Bharat Express will start from Yesvantpur early in the morning, around 6:05 AM, and reach Madgaon by around 7:15 PM the same day. On the return trip, the train will leave Goa early and reach Bengaluru in the evening. The route will pass through parts of Karnataka and Goa, potentially stopping at places, like Hassan, Sakleshpur, Subrahmanya Road and Padil* to serve more passengers along the way.
Use of Padil Bypass Route
To save time, the service will bypass the busy Mangaluru Junction and Mangaluru Central stations by using the Padil bypass route. Railways have also suggested raising speed limits on some sections for example, the stretch between Chikka Banawara and Hassan may see speeds increased from 110 km/h to 130 km/h. On some steep ghat sections, speeds might be modest due to terrain challenges, but raising them could help reduce the overall travel time.
The train is expected to offer modern facilities and a comfortable ride, like other Vande Bharat services. If everything goes as planned and the Railway Board approves the proposal, this new coastal Vande Bharat route could launch and give travellers a faster way to reach Goa from Bengaluru.
