Radha Rani Ropeway Launched and Yamuna River Cruise Started in Mathura on Janmashtami

The Radha Rani Ropeway in Barsana, Uttar Pradesh, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on August 25, 2024, just in time for the Janmashtami festival. This new ropeway is set to make visits to the Radha Rani Temple much easier, especially for those who found the climb of over 200 stairs challenging. The temple is a significant pilgrimage site, and the ropeway offers a swift and scenic ride, allowing devotees to reach the temple without the physical strain.

Key Features of the Radha Rani Ropeway

The Radha Rani Ropeway was built by the Mathura Vrindavan Development Authority (MVDA) under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, with a total cost of around INR 15.89 crore. The ropeway features two towers and twelve gondolas, which were imported from Indonesia, Germany, and China. Each gondola can accommodate up to six passengers, ensuring a comfortable and efficient journey.

The ropeway covers a distance of 300 meters between the lower and upper stations, taking approximately five to seven minutes to complete the trip. Tickets are available at both the lower and upper stations, with a fare of ₹100 for a round trip. For those who prefer a one-way journey, the fare is ₹60. With the capacity to transport 72 devotees per hour, the ropeway is expected to significantly improve the pilgrimage experience, particularly during busy festivals like Latha Maar Holi and Radha Ashtami.

Garun Cruise on the Yamuna River

In addition to the ropeway, CM Yogi Adityanath also inaugurated the Garun Cruise on the Yamuna River during the Janmashtami celebrations. This new cruise service is part of a broader initiative to boost tourism and create jobs in Uttar Pradesh. The cruise operates between Vrindavan and Gokul in Mathura, offering passengers a scenic and spiritual journey along the Yamuna River.

The Garun Cruise is equipped with modern amenities to ensure a comfortable experience for all passengers. This initiative is similar to the successful cruise services on the Ganga River in Varanasi and is expected to attract more tourists to the region. By enhancing the tourism experience, the cruise is anticipated to boost local businesses and create employment opportunities, aligning with the state government's efforts to improve infrastructure and promote tourism in Uttar Pradesh.

These developments reflect the government's commitment to making religious and cultural sites more accessible and enjoyable for visitors, ultimately enhancing the overall experience for devotees and tourists alike.
