Good news for people living in Pune and nearby areas. The Maharashtra government has approved a big highway project worth ₹4,206.88 crore. This new highway will connect Talegaon, Chakan, and Shikrapur, helping reduce traffic in the region and improving connectivity. It will also give a better road link between the Mumbai-Pune Highway (NH-48) and the Pune-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Highway (NH-753).
Project Announced in Cabinet Meeting
The decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He said the project will ease traffic in important industrial areas and help heavy vehicles avoid driving through the middle of Pune city. This will not only reduce traffic jams but also support the growing needs of industries in the region.
Highway Route and Features
The total length of the highway will be 53 kilometers. The project includes both elevated and ground-level roads. A four-lane elevated road will be built from Talegaon to Chakan, and a six-lane road will run from Chakan to Shikrapur. This design will make sure that heavy commercial vehicles can move easily and quickly without causing traffic problems.
The highway will be built under the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC). It will work like an outer ring road, taking pressure off Pune's internal roads.
Helping Industries and Commuters
This project is very important for the Chakan MIDC area, which is a major hub for automobile and manufacturing companies. With better roads and faster transport, companies will save time and money. It will also help improve the quality of life for people who travel daily between these places.
