Pune's much-awaited Metro Line 3, connecting Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar, is likely to partially open by the end of June, bringing relief to thousands of daily commuters and IT employees who struggle with heavy traffic in the city. The first phase of the project is expected to include 12 metro stations.

Pune Metro Services to open by the end of June
According to officials from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), the metro service will initially run between Maan and Balewadi. The remaining 11 stations closer to Shivajinagar are expected to become operational by October after pending construction work is completed.
The 23.2-km elevated Metro Line 3 is one of Pune's most important transport projects. It is designed to improve connectivity between the busy Hinjewadi IT hub and central Pune. The metro corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time and traffic congestion on roads that are usually packed during office hours.
Trial Runs Conduction
Officials said the overall project is more than 94 percent complete, and trial runs on the full metro route have already been carried out successfully. However, some work is still pending at stations near Baner and Shivajinagar, mainly related to passenger access points and other technical infrastructure.
Pune Metro Line 3 Connections
The metro line is being developed under a public-private partnership model by Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, a joint venture involving the Tata Group and Siemens. Once fully operational, the route will also connect with Pune Metro Lines 1 and 2, making travel easier across different parts of the city.
Commuters and residents in Hinjewadi and nearby areas are hopeful that the metro will finally provide a faster and more comfortable travel option after years of delays and traffic problems.
