Festive Rush Alert: Essential Travel Guide for Your Bengaluru to Mangaluru Dasara 2026 Trip

Navaratri in Mangaluru begins Sunday, October 11. Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will inaugurate Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Kshetra’s Dasara on Monday, October 12. Bengaluru weekend trippers should lock route, timing and parking now. Crowds will surge around the temple and city core. Expect heavier inflow from Saturday evening through Monday, especially around Kudroli and Hampankatta.

Peak footfall arrives on Vijayadashami, Tuesday, October 20, when Kudroli’s grand procession rolls through central Mangaluru. Last year featured over 60 tableaux and extensive traffic restrictions. Expect diversions along Durgamahal, Mannagudde, Narayanaguru, Lalbagh, PVS, Navabharath, Hampankatta, Car Street and Alake. Idols typically return overnight for immersion inside the temple lake.

Bengaluru to Mangaluru Dasara 2026 Travel Guide: Routes, Traffic Tips, and Festive Planning

Bengaluru weekend drive on NH75: start smart

NH75 via Hassan and Shiradi Ghat remains the simplest corridor. Leave Bengaluru by 5.30–6.30 am to beat city traffic. Starting after 8 pm is quieter. Budget eight hours or more including two short halts. Recent breakdowns on the ghat caused long delays, so build slack. Top up at Hassan for fuel and meals; use Sakleshpur cafés sparingly during peaks.

Rail and KSRTC options for Mangaluru Dasara

Prefer wheels-off travel? Daily and weekly trains connect Bengaluru to Mangaluru Central and Mangaluru Junction. Examples include Yesvantpur–Mangaluru Junction Express 16539 and overnight services to MAQ. Seats fill early around festivals, so book now. KSRTC’s Mangaluru division is also running Dasara package tours across coastal temples from October 11.

Procession diversions, parking and stay zones

Mangaluru City Police typically bar parking along the route and announce designated lots. Last year, Alake Market, Canara Bank Mannagudde and Urwa Ground served visitors. Expect fresh maps and time windows nearer the date. If staying near Hampankatta or Lalbagh, plan to walk the last kilometre to venues.

Coastal weather watch and safety tips

IMD shows no Coastal Karnataka warning for Sunday, October 11. Local alerts still flag thunderstorms till October 10. Carry rain gear and keep checking KSNDMC updates during your window. On Shiradi, maintain gaps, avoid blind overtakes and watch for wildlife. Follow police diversions over app routes when instructions differ.
