Pune Metro: List of 23 Metro Stations on Line 3 from Hinjewadi IT Hub to Shivajinagar

Pune is set to transform its public transportation system with a major expansion of its Metro rail service. The highly anticipated route from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar, stretching 23 kilometers, is expected to be operational by September 2025. This route will provide a direct link to Hinjewadi Infotech Park, a key employment hub, offering a faster and more convenient commute for thousands of professionals.

Originally scheduled for completion by March 2025, the project faced delays due to election restrictions and VIP movements. Despite these setbacks, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has worked hard to get back on track. Officials have requested an extension to September 2025, ensuring high safety and quality standards are maintained.

Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, has urged for faster progress, while Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is personally monitoring the developments. To further improve connectivity, a flyover along Ganeshkhind Road is also being constructed in parallel with the Metro expansion.

A Growing Network Across Pune

The Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar route is part of a broader plan to expand the Pune Metro network. Phase 1 of the Metro, covering 33 kilometers, is already operational with routes connecting Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate. Two sections of Phase 1 were inaugurated in 2024, marking a significant step forward in Pune's urban transport.

By 2025, the Metro will also extend from PCMC to Nigdi and Swargate to Katraj, adding an additional 9 kilometers to its network. These expansions aim to provide better connectivity for the city's residents and reduce traffic congestion.

The final approval from the Union Government is awaited to begin work on these ambitious projects.
