Officials announced on Wednesday that the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has decided to provide eight amenity spaces for the upcoming Metro Line 3, which will run from Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar. Last year, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) requested parking area facilities for the new route. After conducting a

survey, PMC identified suitable sites near Metro Line 3 stations.
Allotted Parking Sites
In total, 13,051 sq m of land has been allotted across eight sites, while two additional sites will be developed in the PMRDA area. Three of these spaces are in Balewadi-close to Balewadi Stadium-Food Hub station (300 m), NICMAR-Amar Tech Park station (250 m), and Ramnagar in front of K Square Living (400 m). The remaining identified plots are in Baner. According to officials, five of the proposed spaces are in Balewadi and three in Baner, located within 100-400 metres of the respective stations. Dinkar Gojare, Head of PMC's Project Department, confirmed that the estate and management department is finalising the list and will transfer the land to PMRDA after the commissioner's approval.
Delay in Land Acquisition for Pune Metro Line 3
PMRDA has been facing difficulties in acquiring land for parking along Metro Line 3, and parking has been secured at only three of the 23 stations: Maan, Balewadi, and Shivajinagar. With PMC's contribution, parking arrangements can now be made for seven more stations, including Balewadi Stadium, NICMAR, Ramnagar, Laxmi Nagar, Balewadi Phata, Baner Gaon, and Baner.
Metro Line 3 is a 23-km stretch being built by Tata Group's Trill Urban Transport Pvt Ltd (TUTPL) and Siemens. With 45% work completed, the line is now expected to be ready by March 2025, due to the delay in land acquisition. Earlier, commuters on Metro Lines 1 and 2 had also demanded more parking, and PMC had recently allotted 20 parking sites to Pune Metro to meet this need.
