Chennai faces a planned maintenance power cut today, Thursday, October 1, 2026. The outage runs from 9 am to 2 pm. TANGEDCO has scheduled area-wise shutdowns across western and southern zones. Key clusters include Porur, Ramapuram, Taramani, and Tiruvanmiyur. Commuters in the IT Corridor should expect lift stoppages and charge devices in advance.
Additional outages cover Sembakkam, Tambaram, Kundrathur, Nanganallur, Pammal, and Tirumullaivoyal between 9 am and 2 pm. Maintenance crews will work on feeders, transformers, and lines to improve reliability. TANGEDCO has indicated today’s works are routine, not emergency repairs. Some pockets could see early restoration if tasks finish ahead of schedule.

For inverters, limit to lights and fans to extend backup. Unplug sensitive electronics, then reconnect only after supply stabilises.
Check Chennai power cut updates before heading out
Shutdowns can be revised due to rain or field constraints. Recheck updates before travel or appointments. TANGEDCO usually posts next-day maintenance by evening, and changes may appear without prior notice. Keep helplines handy and watch for feeder restoration messages. Plan commutes and lift operations in larger complexes.
