Kolkata Metro's Operations: Fewer Services will Run on Blue, Green, & Yellow Lines on 2nd October

Kolkata Metro will run fewer train services on the Blue, Green and Yellow lines on October 2, Friday, due to the Gandhi Jayanti holiday. Metro Railway has announced a modified schedule for the day; however, the first and last train timings will remain unchanged on all three lines.

Kolkata Metro's Operations on Gandhi Jayanti

On the Blue Line, 216 Metro services will operate on October 2. These will include 108 UP and 108 DN services. Normally, the line operates 272 services. Despite the reduction in the number of trains, there will be no change in the scheduled timings of the first and last Metro services.

The Green Line will also have fewer services on the holiday. A total of 212 services will operate, consisting of 106 UP and 106 DN trains. This is lower than the usual 236 services. Metro Railway has confirmed that the first and last train timings on the Green Line will remain the same.

On the Yellow Line, 110 services will be available during the day, including 55 UP and 55 DN services. The first and last train timings on this corridor will also remain unchanged.

Advisory for Residents

The reduced number of services has been planned because October 2 is a national holiday observed as Gandhi Jayanti. Passengers using the Blue, Green and Yellow lines have therefore been advised to take note of the revised service frequency while planning their journeys. However, commuters using the Purple and Orange lines will not face any reduction in services. Metro Railway has stated that normal train operations will continue on these two lines on October 2.

The revised schedule is expected to help Metro Railway manage operations during the holiday while continuing to provide services across the city.
