metro cities officially. As part of the inauguration, the leaders will flag off the metro and travel from Subhash Nagar to AIIMS on a 6.22-kilometre stretch. The metro will open for public use from December 21.

Inauguration Ceremony

The inauguration ceremony will take place at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre, also known as Minto Hall. Several ministers and public representatives will attend the event. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address the gathering through a recorded video message.

Final preparations are underway at all eight metro stations. Stations are being decorated, and work is being carried out day and night to ensure a smooth launch. Officials stated some outside work, such as road and slope finishing, will continue for a few months but will not affect metro services.

Inclusion of Stations

The Subhash Nagar-AIIMS corridor includes eight stations: Subhash Nagar, Kendriya Vidyalaya, DB Mall, MP Nagar, Rani Kamalapati, DRM Office, Alkapuri, and AIIMS. The metro will briefly stop at each station during the inaugural ride.

When Will the Services Begin?

Public services will begin at 9 am on December 21 from the AIIMS station. There will be 17 trips daily, with nine trips from AIIMS to Subhash Nagar and eight in the opposite direction. All stations have lifts, escalators, and ramps, along with foot overbridges at key locations.

Metro tickets will be sold only at counters. Fares range from Rs 20 to Rs 40, depending on distance. No free rides will be offered. While the metro uses energy-saving technology and Indian-made coaches, the main concern is the lack of parking at stations. Authorities said efforts are being made to arrange two-wheeler parking soon.
