The Chennai Egmore - Tirunelveli Vande Bharat train has added over 500 seats to accommodate passengers on January 11 and 12. This enhancement has confirmed bookings for many who were earlier on the waiting list. The announcement, made on Wednesday, has brought relief to families and travelers heading to their destinations for Pongal celebrations.
Special Train Services
Southern Railway has also announced several special trains to handle the holiday rush:
- KSR Bengaluru - Chennai Special: This train departs from Bengaluru at 8:05 am on January 10, reaching Chennai by 2:40 pm. The return journey starts at 3:40 pm from Chennai, arriving in Bengaluru by 10:50 pm.
- Thiruvananthapuram - Chennai Central Festival Special: Scheduled to leave Thiruvananthapuram at 4:25 am on January 15, it will arrive in Chennai by 11:00 pm. The return train departs Chennai at 1:00 am on January 16, reaching Thiruvananthapuram by 8:00 pm.
- Ernakulam - Chennai Festival Special: This train leaves Ernakulam at 6:15 pm on January 16, arriving in Chennai by 8:30 am the next day. The return train starts from Chennai at 10:30 am on January 17 and reaches Ernakulam by 11:00 pm.
